This project was inspired by a snapshot of found typography.
Found typography snapshot.
Based on each of the letters visible in the snapshot, I began to develop a typeface. Through recreating these letterforms, I analyzed the shapes and conventions that characterize the typeface. Using this information, I expanded the collection to be a full set of uppercase letters.
To showcase the typeface, I created a type specimen poster and booklet. The strong lines and minimal appearance of the typeface inspired the structure and visual appearance of these materials.
The booklet was printed in an accordion format so that the reader can flip through the pages individually to see each detail of the typeface or stretch it out to see a general overview of all aspects of the typeface.

This project was completed during my exchange semester in Graz, Austria. Living and studying in Austria exposed me to a whole new way of approaching design that has greatly impacted my personal practice.
